Bina Antarbudaya Center and Pontianak City Government Initiate An Educational Collaboration
Teraju.Id, Pontianak – The success of PatriotIsMe Project organized by the volunteers of Bina Antarbudaya Chapter Pontianak in the march of Kampoeng English Poernama was continued by the visit of Executive Director Nina Nasution and the Advisor Asmir Agus to Pontianak City on Wednesday(7/9/16). The visit by the officials of the Student Exchange Scholarship Foundation to over 1500 students from throughout Indonesia was warm-welcomed by the Mayor of Pontianak City, H. Sutarmidji,SH,M.Hum in his official residence at the Abdurrachman Saleh Street at around 02:30-05:00 p.m.
The meeting was on the ligament of educational cooperation in which Bina Antarbudaya and The Goverment of Pontianak City has the same vision, which is to put the aspects of education and culture as priorities. “If you ask me, in principle, education is profound important. Therefore, we really support what you are doing” confirmed the Mayor of Pontianak who was wearing the blue Batik shirt. He expressed that Pontianak city has been building the cooperation with Korea where they will provide beauty laboratory, along with the tutors. I am thinking about the job vacancy. If there is anything that can absorb a lot of workers. It is the beauty business, and Korea is best at it”, he added.
Besides, the Mayor who has great national achievements also mentioned that the students of Tanjungpura University have established a cooperation with China. “They have an International program where the qualified students are sent for a six-month study in China. This is also an asset of knowledge and experience exchange that is integrated in education and culture”, he said so while also underlying that such exchange program is also conducted to the UK and the US.
“In that occasion, the Board of Trustees member of Bina Antarbudaya Indonesia, Asmir Agus, stated that Bina Antarbudaya is a part of the history of American Field Service, well-known as AFS “We have sent 1500 students for the exchange and 5 of them are from West Kalimantan”.
The visit of Asmir and Nina Nasution accompanied by the committee of Bina Antarbudaya Chapter Pontianak and Kampoeng English Poernama went serious but easy and it was closed by harvesting the Litchi fruits in the back garden of the Mayor’s house.
Within a short time, the cooperation will officially be started by the establishment of Pontianak City as the host of the National Conference of Bina Antarbudaya (Rakernas Binabud) in 2017. At that moment, the Mayor of Pontianak will be appointed as a keynote speaker.
