Erlina Burhan: the Use of Masks must also be Accompanied by Hand Hygiene

teraju.id, Jakarta – AFS Intercultural Learning invites dr. Erlina Burhan, MSc, SP.P (K), one of the doctors at the Persahabatan Hospital and also a returnee from a student exchange in 1982/1983 became a speaker at National Work Meeting Bina Antarbudaya at the Century Park Athletes Hotel, Jakarta on Saturday (14/03).

In this forum dr. Erlina delivered a discussion about the corona virus which is being viral and caused panic in Indonesia and the world because of invalid news (hoaxes).

“A lot of untrue news like this virus is transmitted from eye gaze, but not from eye gaze but from the hand that touches the face so that the virus enters through the membranes in the eyes, nose and mouth.”
In addition to providing an explanation of the news circulating, she also taught how to wash hands properly and also the ethics of coughing and sneezing.

“The use of masks must also be accompanied by hand hygiene,” she added.

Dr. Erlina hopes that the level of awareness in the community about the importance of washing hands can be a form of vigilance in responding to the Covid-19 outbreak.
