Social Sunday Activity on the Sideline of the Interview Selection for AFS/YES Student Exchange Program

teraju.id, Purnama Valley – Sunday (21/5). As usual, on Sunday afternoon (21/5) Kampoeng English Poernama is crowded with volunteers who are willing to develop themselves and children who are happy to learn English through Social Sunday Program.
Something special came out on the day where the secretariat of Kampoeng English Poernama which is also a basecamp for Bina Antarbudaya Chapter in Pontianak, held the level-2 selection for AFS/YES Student Exchange Program. Amid the hustle bustle of the activities, graders of Social Sunday who are all in the age of between 6 and 12 years old could still concentrate on the learning session facilitated by the volunteers of KEP on duty.
The lesson started at 03:30 p.m on the 2nd floor of the secretariat of KEP. Many children came 15 minutes earlier before the lesson started. Graders and their parents confirm that they are very excited in following the learning activity in KEP every week. During 1 hour lesson, which ended at 04:30 p.m, they showed pleasure in learning that they didn’t get from school because Kampoeng English Poernama emphasis on Edutaiment in providing lessons. It is either entertaining and educating.
When the first session of learning initiated, they were instructed to sit in a little circle in order to create a relaxed and enjoyable learning environment for the graders and also the teachers volunteers. After that, they were invited to introduce themselves and taught to fill the simple registration form given to them since it was the first meeting after the graduation ceremony of the graders and volunteers in the Batch 1, in between February and April, which lasted for 3 months to be exact.
In spite of 2 activities took place in the same building, the learning activity went on very conducive anyway. The graders could keep concentrating on the lessons. So did the participants of Students Exchange selection in doing the interview session.
From that very moment the activities were conducted, we learned that it is possible to learn at best in whatever situations and anywhere we are, because learning and looking for knowledges have no limit of time and place. (Imam|Christina)
